Hope Flies - Commissioned in 2017 for the 2018 First Fortnight , mental health awareness festival in Dublin. A Skylark with a 15’ wingspan was created in studio from willow, and prepared strong papers, then transported to Ennis for 8 young adult learners in the National Learning Network centre to decorate with their own motifs, words and ideas based around hope . The Skylark then “flew” to Dublin and was installed in the atrium of the Dublin Civic Offices. It took 2 abseilers to install the artwork . The group travelled to Dublin for the launch, where one member recited his own poetry on hope.
Hope Flies is now installed in the NLN offfices in Limerick.
